This summer I came back from France with two books of Japanese sewing patterns. This blouse is the first garment I sewed from the book called “Tuniques et robes – Tome 2”.

I especially liked the way it’s tied at the back, although my hubby says it looks like a straitjacket and my mum and I say it’s more like a hospital gown… XD

The fabric is from the market, this time it wasn’t a big remnant, and I couldn’t make the whole front in one piece. I did it in three. But I matched the print at the seams (tricky tricky!) and I hid the seams inside the pleats, so that it’s barely visible.

Do you like it?

Louisa dress #2

Segundo Louisa Dress!

Second Louisa Dress! You saw the first one last week. And this time I (virtually) sewed together with fils&draps, who did an autumn Louisa too.

This one features long sleeves (yes, I added a few inches to do complete sleeves), facing at the neckline (I didn’t line it like the first one), and the invisible zipper.

The detail I like the most are the buttons. I bought a cover button kit this summer, and I was still wondering in which project I could use them… They are peeeerfect for the Louisa, aren’t they? They turned out so so pretty!! I’m in love with them, you see!

Now Bubu keeps asking for more cover buttons (mami, can you make one with a chick?...)

Louisa dress #1

¡¡Jajajaja!!

~~&~~

You can imagine how happy I was to win the second prize in the “Paris Sew Social Giveaway”. The prize included a printed copy of the Louisa Dress pattern by Compagnie M. I like this pattern a lot, so it was time to sew it (and the contest was the perfect excuse to do so, of course).

Before I get to the point, let me tell you that more than two years ago I took part in my first sew-along, Marte’s Charles Pants. Back then she was totally unknown and wasn’t selling any patterns, but I became one of her first followers. Now we both have grown up, she has built an empire and I sew much better, don’t you think?? Hahahaha!!!

Well, now to the Louisa…

I did a sleeveless version in needle cord, found at the market time ago. I lined the bodice and did the piping with this pink fabric that I once used as a curtain… actually the same I used for the pockets of the Charles Pants, funny…

Invisible zipper, real vintage buttons and lining closed by hand, all included.

I did a size 4, it’s a bit too big for Bubu, especially too long. But I prefer her to grow in it.

And get ready, next week comes the second Louisa…

Camiseta Estiu… Frozen…

~~&~~

I'm not crazy, it's still warm in the sun here, so I'm still wearing it, the second Estiu this year (first one here, last year's one here)… These white and blue remind me of Frozen, so I call it my Frozen Estiu…

The pattern is the free one by Mi Rincón de Mariposas, you know.

I used white double knit (ponte di roma from Cal Joan) and blue elastic tulle (from Encants). At first I considered gathering the tulle, but since I wasn’t sure if it would look nice and not too bulky, it turned out as total color blocks...

~~&~~

The yoke is lined. I thought about topstitching on the edges, but finally I saw there was no point in doing that, if I had lined the thing.

~~&~~

French seams on the sides for the tulle, but raw edges on both fabrics at the bottom…
